Ms María Fernanda Espinosa, new President of the General Assembly of the United Nations

News

We welcome the election of Ms. Maria Fernanda Espinosa as President of the 73rd United Nations General Assembly. We consider this as a recognition of the Ms. Espinosa’s achievements during her career including, of course, her key role as first Chair-Rapporteur of the OEIGWG.

We would like to take this occasion to underline that Ms. Espinosa has dedicated her victory to women in politics worldwide, especially those who face gender discrimination; and take this as a commitment to keep on fighting for global justice as she has done in the past.
