News

On the 20th July 2018 the Presidency of the open-ended intergovernmental working group has published the draft 0 of the Binding Treaty, which will be discussed on the 4th session of the working group between the 15th and 20th October 2018.

The Global Interparliamentary and Municipal Representatives’ Network welcomes the release of the document following the timetable agreed on in the last session of the OEIGWG, and celebrates the work done by all those who have contributed to this document. The publication of the document is a decisive step forward that will be certainly followed by a torogh analysis by all those who have been active in this process since this the very beginning, including social movements, affected communities, academics, States and political groups.

Successfully concluding the mandate established by Resolution 26/9 of the UNHRC is now, more than ever, an achievable and irrenunciable objective. Our active engagement at multinational, national and municipal level is a key asset to contribute to achieve an international legally binding instrument on Transnational Corporations and Other Business Enterprises with respect to human rights.
