The Global Network in support of the Binding Treaty opens its arms to signatories representing Municipalities worldwide

News

Municipalities are in direct contact with citizens and communities and have often witnessed and suffered the human rights abuses committed by transnational corporations and other business enterprises. They can and must be in the frontline of the elaboration of a binding instrument to stop their impunity.

The process towards the Binding Treaty is undergoing a critical stage, and in this context this platform of which you are a member is expanding and inviting also representatives from municipalities (both, mayors and city councillors) to sign its manifesto.

The draft 0 of the binding instrument has now been released, and the discussion which will take place in the 4th session of the open-ended intergovernmental working group, which will take place between the 15th and 19th October will be of paramount importance. Our support and that of our colleagues in national and regional Parliaments, and in municipalities can make a tangible difference, and we would like to therefore warmly invite you to suggest your colleagues to co-sign the manifesto.
